There is coffee and then there is coffee.  What do I mean?  Well, coffee by itself already has a number of benefits for losing weight.  Coffee for weight loss could just be your normal black coffee (without the sugar and cream obviously) that you normally have every morning already.  The caffeine content will increase your metabolism (since it is a stimulant) which will help you to burn more calories and helps you to lose weight.  At least in theory.

Of course, the added sugar (and to some extent the dairy creamer which may have some carb content) are not helpful to your weight loss goals.  But drinking coffee, in general, is already helpful and you don't really need to look for anything else.  One potential problem with coffee for diabetics (and not everyone who wants to lose weight is a diabetic) is that coffee (or caffeine) releases insulin in the blood which takes what sugar or glucose there is and packs it into fat cells for storage.  For the purposes of blood sugar control, in general, you want to go with a decaffeinated coffee (or tea) if at all possible.  But for the rest of us, black coffee is already a step in the right direction.
