Our “WOW Factor” Buyer’s Guide

I'm looking for a tea that can help me stay alert and focused throughout the day.

It can be tough to find a tea that gives you sustained energy throughout the day, without making you feel jittery or anxious.

Our best energy tea is perfect for those days when you need an extra boost. This blend of black and green teas is packed with antioxidants and caffeine to give you long-lasting energy without any of the crashes.

Here are the most frequently asked questions about teas for energy and our answers to them.

Which tea gives you the most energy?

There are several teas that can help provide a boost of energy, depending on what ingredients they contain.

For example, green tea is often lauded for its antioxidant properties and it has been shown to increase metabolism and improve cognitive function.

Oolong tea is another type of tea that can promote weight loss, and it has also been shown to reduce fatigue and improve mental alertness.

Other tisanes that may help provide an energy boost include ginger root tea, yerba mate, guarana berry tea, and ginseng tea.

When choosing a tea to help increase energy levels, it is important to consider any potential side effects – such as caffeine sensitivities – and to choose a reputable brand of loose-leaf or bagged tea.

What tea helps fatigue?

There are a few different types of tea that can help with fatigue.

One is green tea, which contains caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine. Caffeine helps to increase alertness and energy levels, while L-theanine has calming effects that can help to improve focus.

Another type of tea that can be helpful for fatigue is black tea, which contains the compound theaflavin. Theaflavins have been shown to reduce feelings of fatigue and improve cognitive function.

Finally, rooibos tea is another option that can help with fatigue. Rooibos contains antioxidants and minerals like magnesium and potassium, which can help to promote relaxation and reduce feelings of fatigue.

What tea keeps you awake?

The caffeine in black tea can keep you awake.

Caffeine is a stimulant that blocks the effects of adenosine, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel sleepy. Caffeine also stimulates the central nervous system and increases heart rate and blood pressure. A cup of black tea has about half as much caffeine as a cup of coffee.

What herbs give you energy?

Some herbs that are known to give you energy are ginger, rosemary, and ginkgo Biloba. These herbs help to increase blood circulation and stimulate the nervous system, which in turn helps to improve energy levels.

Additionally, they all have antioxidant properties which can help protect the body from free radical damage.

What is the healthiest tea to drink?

There are many different types of tea, and each has its own unique health benefits. But if you're looking for the healthiest tea to drink, green tea is a great option.

Green tea is rich in antioxidants and has been shown to improve heart health, lower cholesterol levels, and reduce the risk of stroke. It's also a great source of caffeine, which can help keep you alert and focused throughout the day. And because it's less processed than other types of tea, green tea retains more of its nutrients.

What is a natural stimulant?

A natural stimulant is a molecule that helps to increase alertness and energy. Caffeine is the most well-known natural stimulant, but there are also other molecules like synephrine that have similar effects.

Natural stimulants work by increasing the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, like dopamine and norepinephrine. This increases alertness and energy and can help you to stay productive when you need to be working or studying for a long period of time.

Does chai tea give you energy?

Chai is a type of tea that originates from India. It is usually made with black tea leaves, milk, and spices like cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Chai tea is becoming increasingly popular in the western world as people are discovering its benefits.

So does chai tea give you energy? The answer is yes! The combination of black tea and spices makes chai tea a great source of natural energy. Black tea contains caffeine, which is a known stimulant. The caffeine in chai tea can help to increase alertness and mental focus.

Additionally, the spices in chai tea can also give you a boost of energy. For example, cinnamon has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels, while ginger has been shown to improve circulation.

Is tea healthier than coffee?

There are many health benefits of tea, including its ability to improve mental alertness, lower cholesterol levels, detoxify the body, and boost the immune system.

Coffee also has many health benefits, including its ability to improve mental alertness and cognitive function, reduce the risk of type II diabetes and Parkinson's disease, and protect against certain types of cancer. So both tea and coffee have a lot to offer in terms of health benefits.

Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer the taste or caffeine content of coffee, while others prefer the taste or antioxidants in tea. There is no right or wrong answer - both tea and coffee offer a range of health benefits that make them worth drinking.

Our Best Advice

Looking for the best tea for energy? We’ve spent dozens of hours reading thousands of reviews on Amazon from verified customers to find the perfect energy tea for your needs. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

First of all, when it comes to tea, most people like to talk about the benefits of green tea the most.  And it has many benefits.  Drinking green tea is a healthy way to get some energy during the day (especially in the late afternoon which is the purpose of the 4 pm tea time, isn't it?).  The health benefits of green tea for immune health are quite clear.  Adding a blend of amino acids and L-Theanine to increase blood flow and deal with stress hormones is also a great option.  L-Theanine can also be found in other protein drinks for pre and post-workouts and most of them also contain a blend of amino acid ingredients.

An eight-ounce serving of masala chai is also one of the true teas of the world with its spicy taste and caffeine content. Others like a good white tea (perhaps Pu Erh tea).  Still, others like to talk about herbal tea.  Some prefer ginger tea and others matcha tea.  Some like peppermint tea and others (like myself) like chamomile tea.

And each one has its particular benefits.  A fine green tea or a matcha green tea (or the camellia Sinensis plant) or any other number of herbal teas could be our article topic today but the truth is that when we are talking about energy drinks, the best teas for energy may already be in your cupboard.  Good black tea is already a good energy drink for most people.  Surprised?

Now, don't get me wrong.  Green tea leaves or any one of a variety of teas you can find in a tea shop are wonderful and they all have energy-boosting properties.  White tea, yerba mate tea from South America (the only true tea is the South American tea), guanara berry tea, and ginseng tea, each one has their own unique energy boost.  But drinking black tea also does the job just as well.  Many tea blends provide a delicious tea with numerous health benefits but not all teas can boost energy in an effective way and that is what we are talking about today.

There is nothing like a soothing tea to calm you down.  There is something about the tea plant, the hot water, and the loose leaf teas made into a hot beverage that has the ability to make us relax.  The problem is that we are not talking about relaxing teas but about energizing teas.  Therefore we need more caffeine or at least more stimulants, not less.  And black tea blends do that job quite nicely.  We don't want a caffeine-free tea but more caffeine to boost energy.  We want tea leaves that can stimulate not relax and the difference is huge.

Drinking tea is wonderful.  I particularly like herbal teas before I go to bed.  Oolong tea is delicious and green tea leaves make the best teas with only about half the amount of caffeine.  But that is exactly the problem.  We don't want half the caffeine.  We want a caffeinated tea.  I don't care if it is a loose-leaf tea but it needs to be one of the caffeinated teas.  It isn't about peppermint tea, chamomile tea, and ginger tea which taste great but about yerba mate which tastes terrible but does the job of energizing me as I work.

In South America, we call mate the tea of the poor since it gives energy and takes away hunger pains.  I use it as part of my weight loss program.  White tea is fine but black tea is better.  I just wish that black tea came in a peppermint tea flavor.  Whether it is a loose leaf tea or in a tea bag doesn't matter to me but the truth is that energy teas usually are more bitter (yerba certainly is) but they work.

Black teas are the true teas for energy and when it is combined with green tea and yerba mate, it provides both caffeine and just the right amount of anti-inflammatory properties and natural antioxidants needed to support your overall health at the same time.  Energy consumption is one thing but too much caffeine is also not good for you.  Many energy drinks only focus on the here and now and provide you the energy you want and need in the short run but a tea that you can drink your whole life long is another thing altogether.  And if you can get it in your local grocery store then that is an added benefit.

With all of that being said, it is now time for us to reveal our top choice for the best of the best in energizing teas.  Drum roll, please...

WowzzzersReviews.com

Our #1 WOW Choice (and why)

The Best Tea for YOUR Energy

Our No. #1 WOW Choice for the best energy tea is YOGI Sweet Tangerine Positive Energy Tea for the best-tasting tea on the market.  Now, I know that taste is a very personal issue but YOGI teas have a wonderful variety of great-tasting teas.  So everyone will be happy with one flavor or another.

Well, you might take issue with another aspect of this decision (and I wouldn't blame you).  You might say that YOGI tea is just normal tea and you were looking for something perhaps healthier, like green tea.

First of all, YOGI tea is a mixture of black and green tea so that you get the best of both worlds.

Secondly, this article isn't really about the "healthiest" tea but rather about the best tea for "energy" and when it comes to energy, the truth is that black tea is a pretty good contender (and with a mix of green tea it becomes the "best of the best").

So, let's talk about this Yogi Sweet Tangerine Positive Energy Tea.  Not only does it have an invigorating blend of black and green tea, but it also has yerba mate and tangerine to help support elevated energy levels and an uplifted mood.

I have to be honest here and tell you that I am particularly fond of yerba mate since I have lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina for over thirty years.  Yerba Mate is a popular drink in Argentina (and Uruguay) and is normally drunk in a gourd with a steel straw.  In fact, I am drinking mate right now and it gives me energy all day long.  It used to be a social drink that you passed around but the pandemic put an end to all of that.  But there is no question that yerba mate gives you energy.

But we aren't done.  Their tea also combines Ashwagandha, an herb traditionally used to uplift the spirit, with a refreshing blend of Assam Black Tea for even more energy plus notes of Lotus Flower and Tangerine to add a sweet, floral, and fruity flavor.

In addition to a great blend of black and green tea plus yerba mate, their organic and non-GMO tea bags are also gluten-free, vegan, and kosher, so you can feel good about what you're drinking. This is a high-quality brand producing high-quality tea for energy.  We are impressed and we hope you are too!
